Should I buy shoes with a lot of cushioning for my toddler?
Asked 3 years ago
Hi there, I am in the process of buying my son's first shoes now he has started walking. What type of features am I looking for in these types of shoes? Do they need a lot of cushioning at this age? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, go for shoes with good cushioning but avoid too much cushion for your toddler. Barefoot indoor walking or soft-sole shoes are recommended as that will help to develop strength in the foot muscles and improve awareness of the surrounding space (proprioception.) Look for shoes with features like lightweight shoes with good ventilation, and rubber soles as they are anti-slip resistant, opt for soft material like cloth avoiding synthetic or plastics.
